WHAT IS A PATERNITY TEST?

A paternity test compares a child's DNA profile with an alleged father's DNA profile to determine a biological relationship. Most paternity tests are conducted once the child is born. However, a paternity test can also be conducted before the child is born using non-invasive prenatal paternity testing.
